Sex Toy Retailer Babeland Wins Best Places to Work Award
Seattle, WA -- Babeland, the
premier bi-coastal, women-friendly sex toy shop has won a “Best Places
to Work” award from
Seattle Metropolitan Magazine, joining other
landmark Seattle businesses like Microsoft, REI, and Sub Pop Records.
Winning companies were nominated by employees through an online
survey.
Seattle Metropolitan Magazine followed up on nominations
by investigating the nominees’ benefits and perks. Babeland won out
with low employee turnover, an accepting, gay-friendly workplace, and
medical, dental, and vision benefits for employees who work 20 hours
per week.
The award also cites Babeland’s fun, welcoming, and politically-active
atmosphere: “Bright, sun-drenched, and immaculately maintained,
Babeland manages to blur the line between an inclusive, socially
conscious for-profit and a whimsically sinful toy shop.”
Babeland also excelled in the category of job satisfaction. “We get to
improve people's sex lives for a living," said Lamalani Siverts, an
employee who has worked at Babeland for more than seven years. "It's
more than retail."
Responding to the award, Babeland co-founder Rachel Venning remarked,
“I have always believed that Babeland is a great place to work. It’s
wonderful to have confirmation that the Babeland staff feel the same
way. Babeland’s employees truly are what make this company ‘The Best’.”
