Sex Toys 101 is a lot like Moregasm in that it's engagingly written and the information is accessible. It also does what it sets out to do: Be a comprehensive basic guide to sex toys!

If you're just getting into using toys or aren't familiar with certain types (you're used to vibes but haven't tried butt plugs, for example), it gives solid information in an easy-to-understand style. There are two drawbacks to this book, though, which make me hesitate to give it a very high rating. The first is just because it is a static resource in a continually-changing market; several of the specific toys listed in the text and pictured are no longer produced or available for purchase. Happily, some of the manufacturers and items are, like Vixen or the self-sticking bondage tape, but others can't be found. Second, when this book was written it included examples and references to phthalate-softened latex items, which of course we now know are Not a Good Thing but could easily confuse someone just picking this up as an introduction to toys in general.

Overall, I'm stuck between three stars and four. Caveats aside, this is fairly solid reference book.

This is an excellent guide to sex toys, no matter if you're a first timer or if you've had a love affair with vibration for years. I wish I would have had this book when I started college! Beautiful, fun collages of toys all over the pages and make a great read. There are great tips, checklists for purchasing toys and interesting stories about Babeland's past. This is a must-read!

This is a really informative book that ANYONE can use, no matter what their gender, orientation, or relationship status is. It gives comprehensive info on almost every type of sex toy and safe sex product you can imagine that helps you not only choose the right ones but also teaches you how to use them and take care of them. But don't think the book is just for beginners. We've used sex toys for years and *still* learned a few things, plus we really enjoyed the little bits of trivia and anecdotes that were added in. And in spite of the fact that this is a reference book, the authors peppered a fair amount of humor into their writing so it's a lot of fun to read. The layout and design are also outstanding, and we loved how they used colorful photos of sex toys to create mini works of art throughout. If you've got even a slight interest in sex toys, check this book out. You won't be sorry that you did!

Awesome sex-positive book. the beginning is all about getting to know your body, your desires, embracing them, and learning to communicate your needs with a partner. It's the best book for helping you find new ways of pleasuring yourself, and of course, finding the right sex toys for you. It has a great section on BDSM toys and play too. Very comprehensive as far as toys go, a lot of fun to read with cool anecdotes and experiences from the sex educator's point of view. Must read for budding masturbators, sexual explorers, and those new to sex toys!
