What's a Girl to Eat

Dear Rachel and Claire,
I was recently told that the foods a woman eats can alter the flavor of the vaginal juices. I would like to know if there is any truth to the statement. My partner has never had any complaints, but I thought it would be fun to possibly sweeten the taste naturally. What do you think?

-What's a Girl to Eat?

A:

Dear WGE, What you put in effects what comes out, for all people, not just women. And it’s just about what you’d expect- all the usual suspects. Caffeine, smoking, alcohol, garlic—bad. Fruits and eight glasses of water a day- good. Some even say vegetarians taste better, but I’m not sure about that. Asparagus is notorious for it’s fast acting foul tasting effects, and broccoli and cabbage are rumored to sour the flavor as well. Some foods such as lemons and peppermint supposedly improve the mix, and happily for sugar lovers, a little dessert can sweeten things downstairs as well.

Food may be the least of the factors though- hormonal changes have a big effect, as do some medications. I’d say your best bet is to drink a lot of water, eat what you like (except maybe the asparagus) and don’t skip the sweets!
