Best book on BDSM out there! The author discusses thoroughly every aspect of play, psychological dynamics between players, tips and safety for all types of play, and dynamics within the scene. After reading this handbook, you will have the knowledge and plenty of new ideas to get started playing. It is well written, and an easy read, but also so much for a beginner to remember when reading right through, I suggest flipping to chapters as they interest you.

Exhaustive is right! However, if you don't want to tackle this incredibly detailed book cover to cover, you can use it as the reference book of kink. I read it straight through once, but now I use it like an encyclopedia. When someone asked me what I thought of clothespins, I honestly said I didn't know, but give me a couple days. I looked up and re-read that section of SM101, tried what he describes, and got back to them with an enthusiastic "Let's go!"
