Take Me There

Comments about Babeland Take Me There:

I'm not really an erotica person, but I couldn't resist checking this out. The stories represent people of all different gender non-conforming identities having lots of different kinds of awesome sex. I appreciated the introduction to this book, it does a nice job of addressing the absence of trans bodies in mainstream porn, and the stigma and tokenism that occur when they are present. The representations are for the most part affirming and celebratory, and there were a couple scenes that did indeed take me there. A lot of well-known authors and activists contributed to this anthology (as well as unknown authors!) definitely worth taking a look at.

Comments about Babeland Take Me There:

This book has a ton of quality authors including Kate Bornstein! Some of my favorite stories were Sea of Cortez, Somebody's Watching Me, and You Don't Know Jack. These stories have a lot of variety and changing energy. One of the best erotica anthologies I've read in some time!

    Unique, but problematic.

Comments about Babeland Take Me There:

I was really excited to buy this erotica book and I feel like it was really hyped in the gender variant community. It's sexy, sometimes funny, and definitely really different. Unfortunately, the appropriation of slurs left a really bad taste in my mouth. Kate Bornstein uses the word n*gger and there are stories by non-trans people using the word tr*nny and sh*male that were really unnecessary and clearly written by people who want to appropriate or fetishize trans* identities. I really wanted to like this, but it kind of ended up leaving me with bad vibes.

Comments about Babeland Take Me There:

I've read tons of erotic anthologies, but I have to say that Take Me There stands out among the rest. The imagery, imagination and different perspectives makes it a fun read. Lots of stand out stories like Dixie Bell by Kate Bornstein and Sea of Cortez by Sandra McDonald. Pick up a copy now!

Comments about Babeland Take Me There:

I couldn't put this book down, each short story explored trans identity set in every day scenarios in a way that really spoke to me. The erotica takes a back seat to the gender queer representation but don't get me wrong there are some hot sex scenes.
