Top Tips From Babeland University Teachers

By Alicia Guinn

Forget the boring lectures and clinical-looking diagrams! Our in-store workshops, known as Babeland University, make learning sexy with their unique blend of humor and expertise. For our ?back to school? feature, we asked our teachers to pass on their most popular tips and suggestions for improving your sexual IQ.

Turn On to Sex Toys

If you?re intimidated by vibrators, ?Start small,? says Rachel, Sex Toys 101 author. Vibrators like the Laya Spot and the Pocket Rocket Jr. are popular because they provide unique sensations in a small, portable package. The Trojan Elexa vibrating cock ring/condom combo makes a fun first toy for couples.

Give Better Head

We get lots of requests for oral sex tips. In fact, fellatio and cunnilingus are among the most popular workshops we offer! Sex Educator Darlinda suggests silicone lube for oral sex ?because it never dries up and there is no taste. Pink is my favorite!?

Audrey, our Education Coordinator thinks that ?the Orchid G is a great vibrator to use during cunnilingus because it has a thin shaft and can stay out of your way (mostly) while you are licking and sucking. Also, the head has good surface area for penetration.?

?If you want some help getting over your squeamishness about taste, add a little flavor to the penis or pussy,? says Anne, author of Sexy MamasTrustex Multiflavored Condoms (a condom lubricated flavored lube) and Good Head Gel (a minty gel that provides cooling sensations) are both a lot of fun.

Hit the G-Spot

The G-spot is not a myth! Every woman has a G-spot, and it?s easy to find. ?I recommend that women use skinnier, curved dildos made of hard materials for finding and stimulating their G-Spots. Toys like the Fun Wand (formerly Saturn Wand) are among the best G-spot toys,? advises Jen, one of our Assistant Managers. For folks who prefer G-spot toys made of softer materials, the Princess and Babeland's Boss Lady are two options made of higher-quality materials.

?Try it underwater,? suggests Babeland co-founder Claire. ?Warm water is a turn-on, and paired with a silicone-based lube like Eros, sex toys become erotic aquatic playthings.?

Put Your Hands to Good Use

Our hands are capable of delivering tantalizing sensations, and yet hand jobs are an often overlooked sex act, despite the fact that they can take place anywhere from cars and bathrooms to the comfort of your own home!

Seattle Sex Educator Alicia suggests surprising your partner with new sensations: ?Use a finger vibe like the Fukuoku 9000 or Fantasy Fingers to get her off, or slip a vibrating silicone cock ring onto his penis while getting him off."

Masturbation sleeves like the Blossom Sleeve or Maverick are great for hand jobs too; paired with a slippery water-based lube like BabeLube, they'll send him into erotic reverie.

Discover the Joy of Kink

People love kinky play because it gets their motors revving. BDSM can be an emotional thrill, a great way to reinvigorate a relationship, or to connect with a partner and create intimacy. Learn more about kinky fun by reading SM 101, a beginner?s guide to BDSM for adventurous couples. Dena, our Web Operations Manager, suggests presenting your partner with an exciting gift to get the ball rolling.  Try putting together a BDSM starter kit aimed at exploring erotic sensations, including a set of cuffs, Pony Blinders, Starburst Tickler, and a Handy Slapper.

Bend Over Your Buddy

Our anal play mantra is ?communication, relaxation, lubrication!?  Anal sex should never hurt. Many people start exploring the possibilities of anal play by using fingers and smaller plugs like the Little Flirt.

If your goal is to work up to accommodating a dick or dildo in your butt, Seattle Education Audrey recommends ?beaded toys like Babeland Anal Beads or Ripple. You can start off slow using just the first couple of beads. But after you?re warmed up, you can work on taking the whole thing. Once you do can do that, you should be able to feel confident in accommodating your partner or a larger toy of your choice.?

Vibration is soothing to tense muscles, so toys like the Vibrating Mistress can help you learn to relax your PC muscles, a key to successful anal play.

Indulge Your Sensual Side

Sometimes there?s nothing better than a hot bath and human touch. Being kind to ourselves and our bodies can help us improve self-image, heal sexual shame, and lower stress. Celebrate your body by having a quiet night in by yourself or with a partner. Our Babeland Body products like Babeland Body Massage Candles and Massage Bars are the perfect complement to loving touch. Learn how to use them with finesse by reading Erotic Massage.
