The States Where Women Thrive in the Bedroom

A March 2026 report on sexual satisfaction found that Wyoming women have the best sex life in America. As 40% of women report* sexual difficulties like trouble reaching orgasm, a new study by the adult toy shop Babeland reveals where the female residents are most sexually fulfilled.

• Wyoming women are most satisfied with their sex lives, rating their sexual experiences higher than most other Americans.

• Schools in Oregon score 90/100 on sex education, teaching women about pleasure and consent that most states ignore entirely.

• Mississippi women struggle the most with unsatisfactory sex, and a lack of sexual education. 

The research examined 50 states to find where women* have the "best" sex lives. The report looked at how often women have sex each week and how they rate their experiences overall. It also tracked the number of adult shops in each state and their customer reviews. Additionally, the study considered sex education in schools, how long couples spend in bed together, and how often women search online for self-pleasure tips and products. These factors were combined to reveal where women have the most satisfying intimate experiences.

1. Wyoming

• Adult shops per 100K people: 1.91

• Sexual education score: 70/100

• Sex per week rate: 1.34

• Average sex life rating: 5.7/10

• Self-pleasure searches per 100K women: 879

• Bedroom Satisfaction Index: 98.99/100

Wyoming women have the best reported sex life in America. They're having intimate moments more than once a week, which adds up to about 70 sexual encounters every year. But beyond sex frequency, women here are also more interested in improving their sexual lives than others. They search for self-pleasure tips and products at nearly double the rate of most other states, indicating they're comfortable exploring what works for them. Access to sex toys and products is easy too, with nearly 2 adult shops in every town. 

2. New Hampshire

Women in New Hampshire are having great sex, too. They're getting intimate more than once a week, and rate their encounters at 6 out of 10, one of the highest satisfaction scores in America. Part of the reason is easy access to products that can improve their experiences. New Hampshire has nearly 3 adult shops in every city, so finding what you need isn't hard. Many schools here do a decent job with sex education too, scoring 73 out of 100 and actually teaching young women about pleasure and consent.

3. Maine

Maine women are happier with their sex lives than almost anyone else in the country. Women here give their sex lives a 6.2 out of 10 rating. And that's nearly 2 points above what other American women have to say about their sexual experiences. Schools here earn 80 out of 100 on sex ed, meaning young women learn about their bodies and what healthy intimacy looks like before they're figuring it out on their own. Women here also show a strong interest in personal sexual wellness, frequently searching for self-pleasure advice.

4. Oregon

Oregon women get the best sex education in America, and it reflects on their intimate lives. The local schools are rated 90/100 for teaching students about pleasure and healthy relationships, topics that most states barely touch. Women here are having sex about 77 times per year, one of the highest frequencies in the country. And when they do get intimate, couples are spending quality time together, averaging nearly 4 minutes in bed. Oregon residents also have good access to sex toys to pleasure themselves as well, with 2 adult shops in every town. 

5. Texas

Texas women rate their sex lives at 6.4 out of 10, the second-best score in the entire country. That's not because they're having sex more often, as they actually have less intercourse than others (45 times a year). But when they do have intimate moments, couples here are spending about 3 minutes in bed during sex. Like in other high-ranked states, schools in Texas also do a solid job with sex education, scoring 80 out of 100 and teaching young women what they actually need to know.

Lisa Finn, sex and relationship expert at Babeland, commented on the study: 

"Frequency doesn't determine satisfaction. You can be having sex daily that doesn’t feel satisfying, or only have sex once a month and it’s incredible - what matters is whether or not we are experiencing pleasure during those moments, and if we’re not getting it, that we’re communicating and advocating for it. The fact that women are now searching online for self-pleasure advice and talking openly about what they want is huge. Twenty years ago, most women wouldn't even admit they masturbated. Now they're looking up tips, buying toys, and sharing what works with each other online. That shift toward openness is directly connected to better sex because women who know their own bodies feel more empowered to explore, and can use their knowledge of their bodies and pleasure to communicate their needs and wants to their partners."
