They're brand-new on the market, but we're already in love with the Matryoshka and Forbidden Fruit, both from new sex toy designer Rianne S. Rianne brings a playful sophistication to her designs -- they're a little bit sex-toy-in-disguise, a little bit tongue-in-cheek pleasure machine. Either way, we're sold. Here's a little bit more about Rianne's beginnings in the sex toy industry, what advice she'd offer to hopeful sex toy designers, and what toys she most admires!Babeland: What inspired you to start designing luxury vibrators? What was your background before you started designing these toys?Rianne: My first experience with adult products was about ten years ago was a surprising one: a lot of the products repelled me. I really felt that this could be done better. At that time, I was studying as a garden and landscape architect, which involved lots of ?designing? as well, just on another scale. I liked my studies, but I felt that something was missing. Being raised and influenced by my feminist mother, I was inspired to educate myself on female sexuality, and to speak to women from all over the world about their sexual experiences, and what they would really want in sexual accessories. I really wanted to create a brand that combined my creativity, business skills, sexual knowledge, and passion in a positive and rewarding manner that could be enjoyed by other women. These last few years, I've been extensively researching and developing the first collection for Rianne S.Babeland: What was your inspiration with the Matryoshka and Forbidden Fruit in particular?Rianne: With the Forbidden Fruit, the aim was to create a ball-shaped massager to roll over yourself or someone else, suitable for all erogenous zones. Sexual pleasure is about the complete body, not only the genitals, so the aim was to make a toy for all those sensitive zones. Orgasm-wise, what's great about the ball shape is the bigger surface (more nerves to massage) which can cause extended clitoral orgasm. It's also a wink to the story of Adam and Eve, but with a big difference: in the Rianne S. version, Eve is not the cause of all evil, but a strong woman who knows what she wants sexually and is not afraid to show that. She's a heroine. With the Matryohska, the aim was to make a clitoral massager, not a phallic vibrator (after all, most women need clitoris stimulation to orgasm), with the versatility to stimulate the vagina internally as well. We came up with the Matryoshka shape, which is very flexible in its use, strong and silent. We wanted both vibrators to charge in the box, which is both hygienic and very discrete. All products come with a little infotainment booklet with several tips to try out, since I believe sexual pleasure is about much more than just good products.Babeland: What advice would you give to people looking to break into sex toy design?Rianne: To follow their hearts and go for it! It's very important to be well aware of the female or male body, depending on the kind of toys they want to design, because design and functionality should go hand in hand. Using body-safe materials (silicone, ABS, etc.) should be taken very seriously; even the charging docks and the glue should be body-safe, really.Babeland: Why do you think Rianne S. and Babeland are such a good match?Rianne: For both Rianne S. and Babeland, we're more than just sex toys. I feel it is really our mission to inspire women and their partners, and empower women through their sexuality. Between ten and twelve percent of women have never experienced an orgasm, so there's still a lot of work to do. It's beautiful to work with companies and people like Babeland, who share the same passion to make this world a little better.Babeland: What surprised you about the sex toy industry when you first got involved?Rianne: That it's full of great and interesting people! We all work in an unusual industry, and it takes character to stand out from the crowd.Babeland: What?s up next for you in your designs?Rianne: I see the world in sexual accessories, meaning I have always plenty of ideas. Building the actual products takes a lot of time and effort, though, so I just work on a few products at one time. Right now, I am working on something called "The Bird Collection." These are not vibrators; you'll see what they are soon enough! Then, I'm working on some very nice and special jewelry and "loveballs" for enjoyable vaginal fitness.Babeland: What?s your favorite sex toy design on Babeland.com that?s not your own, and why?Rianne: There are many things I love. Design-wise, I love the njoy collection for its clean metal look and beautiful shapes. Functionally, I really like the Je Joue G-Ki. If there are still people around who still believe a G-spot orgasm is a myth, they'd better try that one!(silicone, ABS, etc.) should be taken very seriously; even the charging docks and the glue should be body-safe, really.Babeland: Why do you think Rianne S. and Babeland are such a good match?Rianne: For both Rianne S. and Babeland, we're more than just sex toys.
