It's the end of the year, and if you're like me, you're deciding where to make your end-of-year contributions. Let me make a small suggestion:
Scarleteen - the amazingly ridiculous site for young folks all about sexuality. At Scarleteen teens get all the information they need and none of the stereotypes they don't. With clear and fun language, Scarleteen takes on everything and anything that a teen could want to know. I've learned things myself!Scarleteen needs help with their end-of-year fundraising. If you've got some extra cash lying around (or even if you don't), please consider giving to this awesome organization. If you're not sure how much you can give, try staying in one night instead of going to dinner and donating that money to quality sex ed for teens - you'll feel great about it.To make your money go further, consider the following when donating:This weekend: Scarleteen will be rolling out an offer where their highest donors for donations $75 and over will get some goodies from them, all awesome for holiday gift-giving. The three highest will get:* a pack of
Sexversation cards (a fantastic tool for educators, as well as everyone else)* a
Just in Case condom compact* two signed copies of Heather Corinna's
Book* and five bars of Moringa tree soap, made by the Lawra Methodist AIDS Clinic and Orphanage in Ghana. The clinic cares for and treats 70 people with HIV/AIDS, cares for 20 orphaned children, and makes this soap to help fund their services. The next five highest donors get the cards, one book and five bars of soap, and the three highest after that get a book and three bars of soap each.Beginning Friday, December 11th, and ending Sunday, the 13th: Two individual donors will be matching donations made in that time period up to $2,500. That means if Scarleteen can raise $2,500 that weekend, they'll have another $5,000 towards their goal, which would take care of more than half of their need when added to the existing funds we have already raised.
