jellyrubberAt Babeland we've had many discussions about the chemical called Phthalates. We've tried to carry toys without this rubber softening chemical because many people are sensitive to the scent and the material. The science is out on whether or not these chemicals are harmful for toys that are used internally.Since modern sex toy making began, the largest sex toy companies have continued to turn out phthalate-loaded sex toys without any warnings to customers. This is all about to change. Adam & Eve, one of the biggest sex-toy makers out there has decided that they are going to stop making toys with pthtalates. Companies have used this material because it's plentiful, cheap and soft so it allows them to make toys that are the same. I'm not sure what the phthalates will be replaced with, but I'm looking forward to it.
"Within six months, Adam & Eve will no long offer any products containing phthalates," says Adam & Eve President Phil Harvey. "Our main focus is, and has always been, the customer and in light of this new information, phasing our phthalates is the only answer."
If you want to read more about phthalates (I promise it's interesting!) I wrote an article here.To learn about different kinds of materials, go here.link (via Tiny Nibbles)
