Having a healthy sexuality is often taboo in our society, and it seems particularly not okay to be in tune with the sexuality of those you love most - your family members! Hence "your mom" jokes - if you knew what was actually going on with her sex life, it wouldn't hurt so much to hear others speculate about it! And you'd have the greatest comeback ever...So I would like to give a shoutout to all the sexy moms and daughters who come into Babeland every day to be educated together! So many people - teens and early twenties especially - have rocky relationships with their parents, and it's really great to see every day at work that family love is alive and well and shopping for sex toys!
Daughters - I know, I know, it can be embarrassing, and maybe your mom dragged you into the store, but embrace it! So many people would LOVE to have their parents support their sexual exploration - you're super lucky, so listen up to your mom and you just might learn something from an older and wiser voice of experience!
Moms - High five for breaking taboos and being involved in sex education! Just remember that openness is a two-way street. Sure, talking to your kids about your sex life may lose you some authority figure points, and it may be pretty awkward at first, but over time it will gain you their respect and trust. If you want to know what they're up to in bed, you'll have to set the example and create a safe and accepting environment where you both can be a bit vulnerable with each other.A great first step is to take your kid or your mom to Babeland! We were recently
mentioned in
Smartmom's New Year's list of Brooklyn parenting trends in the last decade, which means all the cool kids are doing it. Our fabulous Babes would love to help you learn about your sexuality together and find the perfect sex toys to get you both started! You can also come to one of our awesome
workshops to learn more about a particular topic that interests you both. Then you can share what you've learned by being one of our
