Apparently, when the country is in a recession, women buy more lipstick. Researchers have been tracking this data for years but this might be the first year that they also decided to track sex toy sales. According to a story in today's New York Times, it turns out, they're up! I'll let you think of your own reason why you might scrimp on nice dinners or a new pair of boots but find the cash for a hot new vibrator (hint, it starts with an O).It really all comes down to one simple thing, as Claire Cavanah put it so beautifully in the New York Times piece:
