I always feel lucky to live in New York. There's so much happening in this city that it can sometimes seem overwhelming. This is one time, however when I wish I lived somewhere else: Seattle. The Seattle Babeland is participating in an art walk/burlesque/food and drink extravaganza called 2Tue. It takes place on the second Tuesday of each month and it sounds like a blast. Plus, Babeland is going to be showing our favorite porn clips all evening. Free porn! Go! (It's Tuesday October 10th from 12-9pm.)This event reminds me of why I love Babeland and the other stores like it. We're not located in out-of-the way, skeevy places. We're next door to your grocery store and your favorite tapas place. We're in the Mission district, on Capitol Hill (Seattle) and in trendy Soho. And why? Because information about sex isn't supposed to be relegated to the outskirts of life. Sex is central to our lives so the ways we're educated about it and the toys we use to have it should be central too. When sex toy stores participate in art fairs and community days, it helps to bring "talking about sex" (a very scary thing in many parts of this country) a little bit further out of the shadows and into the light. I only wish there were Babelands on every main street in every town. Can you imagine what our sex lives would be like?
