bcpillsThere are so many things that the title of this post could mean, sadly. I'm referring, however, to his appointment of Dr. Eric Keroack to oversee the nation's family planning program. In case you haven't heard about Dr. Keroack yet, he believes that birth control is "demeaning" to women and won't prescribe it even for married women. This is the man who is going to be in charge of over $200 million to provide low-income women with contraception. It reminds me of when Bush appointed Bolton - a man who hates the UN - to be the US representative to the UN. It's a complete absence of logic.Keroack also believes (I warn you, this seems almost too unreal to be true) that women contain a chemical called oxytocin. When they have sex with a man, this oxytocin helps them bond to that person. If women have too much premarital sex, they will lose their oxytocin and not be able to bond with their husband properly.Keroack doesn't have to go through any confirmation hearings so aside from marching to Washington DC and removing him ourselves, we have a limited influence. If you want to keep your access to contraception, go here and sign this letter. It's the least we can do to help get Keroack out of public office.
