How To Orgasm In 10 Different Ways (With The Help of Sex Toys)

By: Kate Sloan

How To Orgasm In 10 Different Ways

For many of us, learning how to have an orgasm is a thrilling rite of passage in our sexual development. But there’s always more to explore in the realm of sexuality – including new ways to come! Here’s the low-down on 10 different types of orgasm and how to achieve them.

Clitoral Orgasm

Clit stimulation is, by far, the most common way that people with vulvas get off. The vast majority of them require it in order to reach climax, in fact, and a lack of clitoral awareness is arguably the main culprit behind the orgasm gap, the phenomenon where women come far less often during sex than men do. That gap can be bridged, however, especially with the usage of clitoral sex toys!

If you’re looking for a toy that’s laser-focused on your clit, a petite bullet-style vibe like the We-Vibe Tango X is a good bet, and it can easily fit between two bodies during penetrative sex. Its vibrations are low-pitched enough that they resonate through not just the tip of the clitoris, but also the deeply buried internal parts that rarely get any love. On that note, if you haven’t yet figured out how to have a clitoral orgasm because your clit is uncomfortably sensitive, try using a vibe through your clitoral hood, or holding it against one of your labia. This more indirect approach can be easier for super-sensitive clits to handle.

Another category of clitoral toys is clit suckers, a.k.a. pressure-wave stimulators, like the Womanizer and the TikTok-viral Rose. These massage the clitoral glans with rhythmic air waves, creating a unique (and often orgasmic!) sensation that’s somewhere between tapping and sucking. Knowing how to have a clitoral orgasm starts with your preferences and experimentation. Your clit deserves the best that modern technology has to offer, and these top the list!

G-Spot Orgasm

G-Spot Orgasm

The G-spot – located on the front vaginal wall, about 2 to 3 inches inside – is one of the best-known erogenous zones. But what does a G-spot orgasm feel like? It’s often described as deeper and more full-bodied than clitoral ones. (There’s no need to pit the two against each other, though – we should ditch that tired old Freudian vaginal vs. clitoral orgasm debate, since all pleasure is good pleasure!)

Be sure to get super aroused before stroking this spot, because the more turned on you are, the more the G-spot swells up, making it easier to find. Some people can even squirt from G-spot stimulation, so you may want to lay down a towel or waterproof sheet before trying it. You might also want to pee before you start, because G-spot stimulation can sometimes feel like needing to pee, at least at first, and it’s hard to figure out how to have a G-spot orgasm while you’re stressing about peeing the bed! When you insert your toy, start gentle and slow, and work your way up to faster, harder thrusts if that feels good.

Fingers and toys alike are great tools for reaching the G-spot. There are tons of G-spot vibrators on the market, typically equipped with a deep curve to hit the spot just right. Some, like the Lelo Mona Wave, even move in a “come hither” motion reminiscent of a partner’s deft fingers. For a non-vibrating option, consider the legendary Njoy Pure Wand, a C-shaped piece of stainless steel – its firmness is ideal for massaging the G-spot, and its heaviness helps build momentum with each thrust, potentially escalating to a wet-and-messy finish!

A-Spot Orgasm

The A-spot, also known as the anterior fornix, is also located on the front vaginal wall, only it’s a few inches deeper than the G-spot, tucked up in front of the cervix. Stroking this spot is known to boost vaginal lubrication, and for some people, it can also induce satisfying orgasms that seem to radiate from deeper in the body than clitoral or even G-spot climaxes.

Because the A-spot is located so close to the cervix – which can be painful or uncomfortable if bumped – it works best to use toys that have a slim, slightly upward-curving tip, like the one on the Maia Chelsi vibe or the Blush Ruse Jimmy dildo. These can typically sneak past the cervix without pain or discomfort, and slide right into this little-known erogenous zone. A-spot toys also need to have at least 4 inches of insertable length in order to reach the deepest part of the vagina, even as it expands from arousal.

Many people find that their A-spot prefers firm, steadily rhythmic strokes, but you can experiment with different depths, speeds, and amounts of pressure to find what works best for your body.

Cervical Orgasm

Cervical Orgasm

The cervix is a fleshy protrusion found deep inside the vagina, which connects to the uterus. As mentioned above, some people find cervical stimulation painful or uncomfortable – but for others, cervical stimulation can be immensely pleasurable, and can even lead to orgasm. Some research has found that cervical orgasms release more oxytocin than other types, so you may find yourself still feeling euphoric long after the comedown. Just make sure you warm up properly, getting super turned on before attempting cervical play, to reduce the odds of discomfort or pain.

Since your cervix may be too deep to reach with fingers, those wanting to learn how to have a cervical orgasm should explore their toy options. Similar to A-spot toys, toys for cervical stimulation need to be long enough to “bottom out,” even in a fully aroused vagina, which requires an insertable length of 4 to 8 inches. A tapered, gently curved tip can help you hit the right spot. Try a long dildo like the Blush Neo Elite 7.5” or the small side of the Njoy Eleven, focusing on small in-and-out thrusts while the toy is inserted as deeply as it’ll go. This type of deep penetration is sometimes known as “cervix kissing,” and indeed, it tends to work best when done gently, like a kiss!

Pro tip: You may want to avoid this type of play during menstruation, since the cervix is often more sensitive to pain at that time. There are plenty of other ways to get off at that time, as evidenced by the rest of this list!

Anal Orgasm

Regardless of your gender or anatomy, your butt is packed with nerve endings. Prostate pleasure is the centerpiece of anal play for many people (more on that below), but you don’t have to have a prostate to enjoy anal stimulation, both because the whole area is very sensitive and because (fun fact!) the G-spot can be indirectly stroked through the rectal wall.

The anal toys category is highly varied; you could try a butt plug like the B-Vibe Snug Plug for “set-it-and-forget-it” pleasure, or take a more active approach with anal beads, which massage the hypersensitive anal opening with ripply texture. Wondering how to have an anal orgasm that’s really intense? Try quickly pulling your anal beads out at the moment of climax to heighten the sensation.

However you choose to explore anal play, make sure to use a lot of lube, because the rectum doesn’t self-lubricate like a vagina does – and go slow at first, perhaps warming up with a finger or two before moving on to a larger toy.

Prostate Orgasms + Anal Orgasms

Prostate Orgasm

The prostate is essentially equivalent to the G-spot, but for people with penises. Much like the G-spot, it responds well to firm, rhythmic pressure provided by fingers or toys, and can produce an orgasm that feels deeper and fuller than those you’d get from purely external stimulation. It’s sometimes known as a P-spot orgasm or a “male G-spot” orgasm, although not all prostate-owners are men: some are trans women or nonbinary people, all of whom can enjoy prostate play.

Good prostate toys are similar, in many ways, to good G-spot toys: they need to curve upward to hit the right spot, which is about 2 inches inside, on the front wall. However, any toy you put into your butt should also have a flared base – meaning that its base is wider than any other part of the toy – to prevent it from getting stuck inside you. That would not be a fun visit to the emergency room!

There’s no single method of how to have a prostate orgasm. Vibration can feel amazing on the prostate, and curved toys like the Lelo Bruno direct the vibrations exactly where they need to go. If your toy has vibration patterns, like pulsing or rippling, try them out to see what feels best, increasing the intensity as you get more turned on. There are also non-vibrating options like the Aneros Progasm Jr., which gently massages your prostate as you squeeze and release your anal muscles. Once again, don’t forget the lube!

Perineum Orgasm

If you’re craving prostate stimulation, but don’t want to bother with the warm-up or prep that anal penetration often calls for, then a perineum orgasm might be just what the doctor ordered! The perineum, also known as the taint, is the stretch of skin between the anus and the genitals – and if you have a prostate, you can massage it indirectly via the perineum.

If you already know how to have a prostate orgasm (see above), you might find that similar techniques work well on your perineum, albeit perhaps with more pressure applied or stronger vibrations used. A wand-style vibrator can work well on the taint, and depending on how you hold it, its vibrations may reverberate up to your penis or clit as well.

Nipple Orgasm + Nipplegasms

Nipple Orgasm

Lots of people enjoy nipple play, but fewer people know how to have a nipple orgasm – it can take time and exploration to get there. But it’s worth it when you do: so-called “nipplegasms” are said to be a full-body experience. For those of you wondering how to have multiple orgasms, consider switching to nipple play after your first climax in a session; it’s a good way to maintain arousal without needing to touch your probably-hypersensitive genitals in the afterglow.

It can feel good to have your nipples stroked or pinched; add some lube first for a smoother glide. You could even experiment with temperature play by using a warming or cooling lube, which increases blood flow to the area. As with genital stimulation, start gentle and slow, and try different rhythms and motions to see what works. You might not have a nipple play orgasm on your first try, but the journey can be just as much fun as the destination!

If you’re a masochist, a good pair of adjustable nipple clamps is a must-have – you can tug on the chain between the two any time you want a little burst of pain. You could even try some vibrating nipple clamps, which walk the line between pleasure and pain.

Coregasm

For most people, orgasms only occur during sex or masturbation – but did you know that it’s also possible to have a spontaneous, hands-free orgasm while working out?! These are known as exercise-induced orgasms or, more succinctly, “coregasms,” because they usually occur from doing abdominal exercises like crunches and leg lifts. Scientists don’t yet understand exactly why they happen, but interestingly, some say the sensation is more centered in the abs than in the genitals.

You don’t need to buy anything in particular to try out coregasms, besides perhaps a gym membership… but if you want to boost your odds of reaching a coregasm, try inserting a pair of Kegel balls before your next workout. They’ll jiggle around inside every time you move – that’s one way to keep yourself motivated!

Blended Orgasm

Blended Orgasm

All these different types of orgasm are delicious on their own, but sparks really start to fly when you combine them! This is what’s known as a blended orgasm – typically an orgasm that incorporates stimulation of the clitoris or penis and at least one other erogenous zone on this list.

Only about 18% of people with vulvas can reach orgasm from penetration alone; the rest require some amount of clitoral pleasure to get there. Many sex toy companies have risen to this challenge, producing “dual-stimulation” toys which simultaneously target both the clitoris and internal erogenous zones like the G-spot. Rabbit vibes are a prime example, like the the Fun Factory Miss Bi G5, which surrounds your clitoris with vibrations from all sides. Fans of pressure-wave toys may prefer something like the Lelo Enigma, which stimulates your clit with air waves while vibrating against your G-spot.

If you want an easy way to make any orgasm a blended orgasm, try a vibrating butt plug! It’ll massage those sensitive nerve endings for a hands-free orgasm, while you enjoy whatever other kinds of stimulation you’ve decided to pair with it. Variety is the spice of life, after all!

Why explore different types of orgasms?

To put it simply: because everyone deserves pleasure! The human body is capable of more sensations than one person can experience in a lifetime, so we might as well enjoy as many as we can while we’re here. Learning to get off in new ways can also help break you out of a rut, either in your solo sexuality or in your connection with a partner.

Some of these orgasm types are easier to achieve than others, and your body might not be capable of all of them – but that’s perfectly okay, and you can still have lots of fun trying! Life is a continual process of self-discovery, and few such discoveries feel as good as new ways to climax. Go forth and explore!
